Kolsby Gordon Secures Settlement in Surgical Negligence Case

April 4, 2013

Kolsby Gordon attorney Robert N. Hunn assisted a young child and his family after an operative error left him with lifelong uncontrollable bowel movements.

At four months old, our client had surgery to correct for Hirschsprung’s disease, a condition caused by a lack of nerve endings in the intestinal tract. Yet during surgery, his physician failed to adhere to the standard of care, losing track of his work during the procedure and quite literally pulling so much of the patient’s intestine out of his body that they were unable to replace it.

As a result of the incident, this child will continue to suffer from severe intestinal disorders for the rest of his life. You can learn more about Hirschsprung’s disease and our client’s surgery on the Verdicts & Settlements portion of our site.

Mr. Hunn and his colleagues are pleased to have helped this young child and his family through such a deeply difficult and saddening time, and hope that the repercussions in this instance prompt additional safety measurements in hospitals performing the procedure nationwide.
