Kolsby, Gordon, Robin, Shore & Bezar represent and have represented individuals who suffered severe injuries due to bicycle accidents in Philadelphia. Too many individuals have been in catastrophic car and bicycle accidents due to excessive speeding and reckless driving. With the weather getting warmer, there will be a heavy increase in the number of bicycle accidents on the streets. The city is experiencing significant growth in bicycle use. Federal census data shows that Philly has the highest percentage of residents biking to work of any major U.S. city. The number one cause of bicycle accidents is speeding drivers. Some advocates are calling for speed cameras as bike deaths rise in Philly.
Bicycling advocates are also pushing Pennsylvania legislators on a plan to improve safety by targeting speeding drivers. Advocates want approval to extend the state’s red light camera program, add photo speed enforcement, and allow local police to use radar. The city is planning changes to improve cyclists’ safety, including a redesign of more than a dozen street corridors that would include “protected” bike lanes that are physically separated from vehicle traffic by curbs or parked cars. NBC 10 Investigators reported that Broad Street appears to have the highest percentage of bicycle accidents in street records.
Kolsby Gordon wants the citizens of Philadelphia to feel safe and decrease the death toll in bicycling accidents. If you or someone you know have been involved in a bicycle accident, please contact one of the attorneys at Kolsby Gordon.
